Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Lalia Cafe - the website at www.laliacafe.comand the Lalia Cafe apps for iOS and Android (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Abukar Abukar ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

Lalia Cafe is a language-learning app with a voice AI tutor, AI-assisted reading, vocabulary and pronunciation tools. The tutor and many other features are powered by artificial intelligence (Google Gemini).

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity on your account. Please give us an accurate email address - it's how your subscription is linked to you.

3. Subscriptions

Live tutoring requires a paid subscription. The plans are:

• Prices. Prices are shown in US dollars. In the App Store and Google Play the price is shown in your local currency before you buy, and may include taxes. The price shown at purchase is the one that applies.
• Daily allowance. Each plan includes the stated minutes of live tutoring per day. The allowance resets daily (at midnight UTC) and unused minutes do not roll over.
• Free trial. First-time subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and you are charged the plan price at the end of the trial. One trial per person. On the website, cancelling during the trial ends your access immediately; in the App Store and Google Play, access continues until the trial ends.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically every month at the then-current price, and your payment method is charged at each renewal, until you cancel.
• Cancelling. Cancel through the store that bills you, at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid being charged for the next one:
  • App Store(iPhone/iPad): Settings > your name > Subscriptions.
  • Google Play(Android): Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
  • Website: sign in at laliacafe.com > You > Manage subscription, which opens the billing portal.
  After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for (except for website trials, as noted above). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Changing plans. You can switch plans in the app. How the change is timed and charged depends on the store that bills you.
• Refunds. Refunds are handled under the policy of the store that billed you. For App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com); for Google Play purchases, from Google Play. For website purchases, contact us at abukarshegow@gmail.com. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we don't give credit for partially used periods.
• Price changes.We may change subscription prices. We'll give you notice in advance, and where the store requires it you'll be asked to agree to the new price before it applies.

4. AI-generated content

The tutor's replies, lesson summaries, translations, definitions, generated articles, narration and other outputs are produced automatically by AI. They can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or occasionally inappropriate, and they are not reviewed by a person before you see them. Use your own judgement, and don't rely on the Service for medical, legal, financial, immigration or other professional advice.

If you see AI-generated content that is offensive, harmful or wrong, please report it using the flag (Report) button next to it in the app. We review reports and use them to improve the Service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service to create, request or share content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, or that exploits or endangers children;
• try to make the AI produce harmful content, or to extract its instructions, or to bypass its safety measures;
• misuse the Service - for example scraping it, reverse-engineering it, automating requests, circumventing usage limits or subscription checks, or interfering with its security or operation;
• share your account or resell access to the Service;
• use the Service in violation of any law or the rights of others.

6. Your content

You keep any rights you have in what you say and write in the Service. You give us permission to process it only as needed to provide the Service - for example sending it to our AI provider to generate a reply - as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Our content and third-party content

The Service, including its design, software and branding, belongs to us and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own learning while you follow these terms. News articles in the reading feed come from their publishers and remain theirs; we link to the original source.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your accountat any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. We may also change or discontinue features, or the Service as a whole; if we discontinue the Service we'll give reasonable notice where possible. Store subscriptions must still be cancelled in that store.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that you will reach any particular level of fluency.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. App stores

If you use the iOS or Android app, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and we - not Apple or Google - are responsible for the app. Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Your use of the app must also comply with the App Store or Google Play terms that apply to you. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms for users of the iOS app and may enforce them.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
